Using Unreal Engine, realistic looking props, shaders and lighting we created a prototype at The Future Group for industrial training.

While hand tracking is trivial in 2023 with Quest 2, we used a Leap Motion in 2017 to track the users’ hands. Combined with a pipe valve prop with a rotation sensor this created an intuitive user interface which also made the experience more immersive and realistic.

       
     
Using the magic of VR to improve visual communication

In virtual reality additional visual input can be provided such as changing the material of the pipes and valve. Changing the colors from green to red will tell the operator that the valve is now properly closed.
